"I was having a bad week."
I was having a bad week.
Work was busy (normal) and at a big meeting on Wednesday, I got injured by a coworker. Result was a swollen ankle and had to leave early when I had a pile of to-dos. The last thing I needed was my car's instrument pack to light up while driving to work the next day (my ankle's better now, thanks).
Hmm... ok, check the manual... go to page 35... go to page 122... go to page... OK FINALLY. WAIT, WHAT?? I have to bring my car into service ASAP or the continued operation of my vehicle could result in serious damage?? Called the dealer in a panic. What do I do? Do I have to bring it in right away? I have to go to work! And oh crap, I remember that my driver's side window went to crap 2 weeks ago... and !@89&#$@#!! I am JUST out of warranty (3 years/36k miles). I can't afford to get stuff fixed! Stupid 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid!
I scheduled for a 730am (the time they open) appointment on Friday. The place was pretty easy to find... right off 101 exit Embarcadero East on the right. Nothing noted about my appointment, but whatever. I meet Francis.
Hi Francis. This is the first time I've brought my car into service. I've never had an issue before. Oh... and by the way, my window is broken on top of the emergency lights noting possible engine issues and IMA.... ::cringe::
Francis makes a call to someone... starts talking thousands. I'm sweating bullets. Francis tells me he just talked to his warranty guy. Honda extended their standard warranty to 38k miles. I'm at 37951. WHAT?? I'm COVERED? Parts and service? EVERYTHING? I love this guy! I'm elated...
Until... while at work, Francis calls me and tells me they diagnosed my car. My window needed new everything and I need to get my IMA battery replaced so I can't get it until tomorrow. Oh and by the way, the extended warranty only went to 37500 miles... buuuuuttttttt they're going to do a one-time goodwill service and grant my car free service. Pheew........ THANK YOU!

3 star rating for a dealer is pretty good. To all those that felt like they got a bad deal or had a bad experience on the retail (salesperson haggling instead of the fleet internet side) - you can avoid those problems and save time by calling as many dealers and get quotes and pit them against each other. Some people will say $100-$300 less than your lowest quote in writing. Others will tell you straight up when you found a great quote and they can't beat it. Anderson guarantees they will beat any written quote by $300.
After calling 8-10 dealers, Anderson had the best price for a 2010 Civic LX automatic sedan (MSRP is $19,155 and invoice is about $17,700). I got it for $15,688 cash price (includes $710 Honda destination charge) with the $1,000 incentive (otherwise, it would have been $16,688 with 0.9% financing). The incentive ends on September 7, 2010. Since I'm looking to pay it off earlier than 60 months and they got me a great interest rate, I took the lower cash price.
A general rule of thumb is to also buy at the END OF THE MONTH when the dealers are trying to meet their quota. I needed a commuter car ASAP so I bought it when I found the right price. I highly recommend Jack in the Internet department. He went on the test drive with us, took us to F&I and did the delivery. Total time at the dealer was about 3 hours. If I had known which color I wanted, I could've gotten out of there earlier. If you know what color and type of car with the options you want, then call Jack for a quote. He honored the price he gave me over the phone and there was no slimy salesmanship involved like at Larry Hopkins and some of the other dealers.
Highly recommended! Now, I will have to see what the service dept is like when I get my first oil change... will update in several months... Going from a BMW to a Civic during the week will be a change (no leather seats, seat heater in the morning, built in blue tooth or trunk release from a remote - boo!), but I think it's the best commuter car and it holds its value really wellChris L Cupertino, CA

I really appreciate the time that Gus Stevenson has spent with me over many months discussing affordable cars with me. I bought a 5-year old Honda Civic from your dealership yesterday.
I wish I had more money, but alas I don't. I liked the fact that Gus stayed the course with me and told me that your dealership could help me get a car within my budget, that Mario (?) greeted my church friend and me and immediately showed me a car that was within my budget, and that Sanjay helped so much with the financing. Gus even let my friend use the computer so I could buy auto insurance on-line to drive the car home. (Somebody hit my old Honda and I've been riding the bus.)
My friend Gary from church, who knows a lot about cars and car salespeople, was really surprised at how well we were treated at Anderson Honda. We will both refer people to your dealership.

I've been going to Anderson to years to get my car serviced. They always try to accommodate my schedule when making my appointment. I really like that they have an option of waiting for your car or they offer a shuttle service so you can get what you need to get done while you're without your car.
The staff have always been so nice and have been able to answer any question I've had with my car.
